Interesting day so far.  My song, "Holding Maps", was chosen by a production company to try and place in a few indie films.  I just got the contract today.  Then, I got an e-mail from a humor magazine that said the initial reader liked my poems and he's sending them to the head editor for approval.

That's right....I said humor.  I can't write about war all the time.  I'd be the most miserable person ever :)

I also have to coach a wrestling tournament tonight.  The season is finally winding down.  Sad, but soon I'll have some free-time to work on another multi-media poem project.  This time it's headed to Prairie Schooner to try and get accepted to an online page they'll be releasing this fall.

Big plans.  Big dreams.  I'm swinging for the fences this year.

A couple cool updates:

The full band and I, "Fourth and Conley", will be playing this year's 100.1 "the Buzz" Bandamonium, which is a regional Battle of the Band's contest for a shot at some money to record with.  We've been on hiatus for almost six months now, but luckily they're all very talented and can carry my sorry butt through while I get really drunk and mumble into the microphone.

The other awesome thing to blog about is that I got an awesome e-mail last night from the New Mexico Poetry Review editor saying that she wanted to publish one of my poems in this April's issue.  Then, just a few minutes later, she sends me another e-mail.  I'll admit I got a little nervous and thought maybe she had made a mistake and wanted to change her mind, but instead, she said that she read through my poems one more time and wants to publish another one also.  TWO POEMS!!!  Wait.....it gets better.....

So then, I e-mailed my good friend, and my first poetry teacher from a few years back who suggested I submit to them in the first place, and he e-mails back and says that we're going to be published in the same issue.  That is some "cool beans".

I feel so blessed to have come so far.  For almost two years I had nothing but rejection letters, and then, just this last November I got my first publication and all of these other acceptances are happening.  To go from nothing to being published beside a mentor and personal hero is "mind blowing" to me.

I'm starting to feel that anything is possible, even this memoir that is consuming me.  Or maybe it's the two cups of coffee I just drank that's giving me that feeling.  Anyways, I'm going to kick 2011 right in the ass.

The House Concert with John Craigie was incredible! There were so many great people there and I got to connect and re-connect with new and old friends. Thanks to everyone that came out.  Here's a few pics.

My song Holding Maps was a semi-finalist for a songwriting competition at Acousticroundtable.com.  I didn't win, but it was cool to make it that far.

Sept. 11, 2010 - had a great time playing at the Ashland Fall Festival. Thanks so much to Grant Wideman for helping me move my equipment and take pics. Fun shows only happen because of great friends helping behind the scenes.
